Oyster mushroom powder is a convenient way to add flavour to dishes and give your body a boost in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Oyster mushrooms are a superfood and are high in protein, vitamins, and minerals while being low in fat and cholesterol. Dried oyster mushrooms are also high in antioxidants such as phenol and flavonoid compounds which help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation throughout the body.

Oyster mushrooms are high in a compound called lovastatin. This helps lower cholesterol and could act as a natural alternative to prescriptions of statins. In this study where individuals consumed dried oyster mushroom powder daily, after 8 weeks, those consuming dried oyster mushroom powder had a drop in triglycerides of 18.7% and a rise in good HDL cholesterol by an average of 6% (high blood triglycerides is considered bad). These improvements in cholesterol and triglyceride levels due to consuming dried oyster mushroom powder demonstrate how regularly consuming this mushroom can improve health.
Oyster mushrooms also contain high amounts of 5-HTP which our bodies use to make the neurotransmitter serotonin – this can play a role in mood, focus energy levels. Oyster mushrooms contained the highest amount of 5-HTP compared to other mushrooms and pink oyster mushroom contain the highest serotonin precursor overall.
